What Hair Extension Texture To Order

One question I often receive is why do you offer only one hair extension texture, the simple answer is that virgin (one-donor) hair actually has a wavy texture when dried with a diffuser.  Virgin hair is not coated with silicone that many other brands use, no silicone coating allows for the extensions to look natural.  Silicone is used on inferior hair extension quality because it prevents tangling for a few shampoos, but once it wears off the hair, the extensions are susceptible to tangling and matting.  Silicone also has a fake sheen like "barbie doll" hair.  

Virgin hair can also match textured hair that has a bit of a corse texture, it will not match extremely curly hair unless the guest blows out there hair.  Many guests with curly hair prefer to blow dry their hair or wear it wavy and virgin texture will match very well.

Virgin hair is a superior quality because it allows clients to wear their hair both wavy or straight, but it also has less processing that leads to hair extensions drying out.  Wavy and curly hair extensions are permed in order to have texture, but avoiding the process can cause damage.  In the end, the hair extensions will not last as long as virgin hair.  Many hair extension methods are reusable, therefore virgin hair will last longer for guests!

Of course virgin hair is not technically virgin, without processing, but it is carefully processed to achieve many color options and color consistency.  The difference with the color processes is the hair's natural cuticle is not stripped from the hair. Many hair extension brands use an intense stripping process which completely destroys the cuticle, and then color is added.  Our virgin hair decolorization takes over 2 weeks and the hair is not placed in caustic acid baths, virgin hair is gently decolorized that not only keeps the cuticle of the hair intact, but allows for consistent colorization.  You will find the hair to be supple to the touch, yet resilient and longer lasting.

Look for virgin hair when shopping for a hair supplier, if you are not sure if the hair is virgin, be sure to ask.  Not all hair extensions are created equally nor is virgin hair offered in the market.  

Ask your supplier for a hair sample, once received, place the hair in natural light while spreading it out.  You will see the cuticle of the hair which is often a subtle shade different than the overall color.  The hair will feel natural not overly silky, and will not have an unnatural synthetic odor.

The best part of stocking virgin hair is that it will work for a variety of hair textures and you will not have to pay the up-charge for wavy hair.  Virgin hair will not disappoint, and I recommend finding your favorite method and stocking popular colors such as; soft black, chocolate brown, light chocolate brown, two-tone blonde and solid natural blonde.  The actual color numbers are 1B, 2, 4, 18/60 and 61.  Since the hair is such high quality you can use a gentle toner or gloss to create a perfect blend with your guests hair.  It is often difficult to perfectly match hair extensions without glossing since so many hair colors are toned between neutral, ash and golden tones.
